Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania. It is located in the northeast of the United States, at the confluence of the Delaware and Schuylkill River, approximately 100 km west of the Atlantic coast. In 2010, the city had 1,526,000 inhabitants.

The city has a very significant position in the history of the United States, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States was written there. In the years 1790-1800 it served as a temporary capital of the USA, while Washington, D.C. was under construction. There are a number of universities in the city, including the University of Pennsylvania.

Independence Hall where both the United States Declaration of Independence (1776) and the United States Constitution (1787) were debated and adopted.

Independence Visitor Center
The Independence Visitor Center is the official visitor center for the Greater Philadelphia Region. Building was constructed in 2001. No tickets are required here, however, visitors must go through a security screening to gain entrance.

Liberty Bell of Philadelphia, the bell announced the independence (July 8, 1776) of the United States. It was moved to its current location (Independence Visitor Center ) from Independence Hall in 2003.

Washington DC (District of Columbia)
is the capital of the United States. The Washington metropolitan area has a population of over 6 million.
The centers of all three branches of the federal government of the United States are in the District, including the Congress, President and Supreme Court. Washington is home to many national monuments and museums, which are primarily situated on or around the National Mall.

The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States.

Capitol is the seat of the United States Congress, which consists of two chambers:

  • United States Senate
  • US House of Representatives

Washington Monument is an obelisk on the National Mall in Washington.

Lincoln Memorial is an American national monument built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is located on the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

In this box was Abraham Lincoln shot by John Wilkes Booth in 1865.
