EXPRESS the Washington Post Newspaper
I assigned the homework for every language group from EXPRESS the Washington Post Newspaper because I think it’s useful to work with various study material such as books, magazines or newspaper. This way my students will get used to better understanding of a reading content.
This time I found a short article about Forecast in Washington D.C. for April. I copied it at a larger size so my students-seniors will not get in trouble reading it and distributed it among all language groups. Intentionally the HW was the same for all groups including the beginner level because I would like to know how each group will cope with it.
HW assignment:
Read the Forecast and translate; convert Fahrenheit to Celsius (°F to °C) and look up for the weather forecast in Prague (the Czech Republic) for May.
I wish good luck to all students-seniors with the article like this as it is more difficult than articles in the book „Angličtina nejen pro samouky“ but it’s worth it to practise.
By the way: Did you know that the British like talking about the weather in the beginning of a conversation while the Americans like talking about it when they get to the end of a conversation and run out of other things to talk about. After a few seconds of awkward silence someone will say something like: „So how about the weather we’ve been having?“
