The article Czech domestic life reflects customs and culture in the Czech Republic. Good to read how we are judged and presented to foreigners.
Czech domestic life.
Czech domestic life is about family, and this is more important than social life.Universities and colleges close their dormitories at weekends so students can return home.Particularly in small towns and villages, Czechs value practical skills and trades passed down to family members for generations. They have a strong work ethic and often feel the need to be doing something practical around the home. Many houses are known as „family houses“ and accommodate two or more generations of the same family.
Roles are traditional, with men typically the ones earning money for the family, while women must take care of the children. The state supports these traditional roles through benefits for mothers with children (up to four years state support per child). This state support acts against equality in the workplace. The gender pay gap in the Republic is 6 percent behind other EU countries.
