Maya Angelou and her quote in Hangman
Článek byl vydán 15. prosince 2016
Maya Angelou, primarily a famous American poet, was recommended to me by the native speaker, Rachel Hacker, who joined our classes. Let’s read who it was and what her quote was in Hangman.

Maya Angelou was born as Marguerite Annie Johnson in North Carolina (1928 – 2014).She was an American poet, writer, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies that are beloved worldwide. The first one „I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings“ (1969) describes her complicated childhood and growing up of the Negro girl at the time Negro minority didn’t have any rights. It has been praised and chaliced throughout the years.
She also cooperated with Martin Luther King and became one of the most important speakers of the Negro USA community. In 1993 she recited her poem during the inauguration of the President, Bill Clinton. She continued a tradition of Robert Frost who recited his poems during the presidency of John F.Kennedy in 1961.
She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees.
After her autobiography we played Hangman (šibenice). The solution was May Angelou’s quote: „Nothing will work until you do“, in Czech „samo se nic neudělá“ (volný překlad).
Students had fun playing this game in teams.
